Process:

In our initial meeting at no obligation (it can be either in person, by phone or video call) we discuss your requirements, how you would like the portrait to look, its size and content (full figure, head and shoulders or full-face portrait) and I will take you through all of the options.

Live sitting at this point would be ideal in order for me to take some reference photographs. If sitting is not an option, and if the portrait is a gift, I am happy to work from high resolution photographs provided by the commissioner (preferably natural light).

Then I would have all the information to work up a series of little sketches of different composition ideas, provide you with a tailored quote and a timescale.

I would expect the all process to take around 3 to 6 months.

A 50% deposit is asked before commencing the portrait to cover time and materials that I will need to purchase in advance. Final payment is due on completion.

Video/photos of the work in progress are sent regularly to ensure we are all content throughout every stages and the portrait is exceeding your expectations. Any comment on any reasonable adjustment are welcomed.
The portrait is shipped by courier to your home (framing, shipping and delivery costs will be added to the overall fee).

How much does it cost?
The price of a commissioned portraits varies depending on the size, the complexity of the portrait and materials used.

To give a rough idea, a small (A3) head and shoulders coloured pencil portrait from a good quality photo provided by the commissioner starts at £500 and increases for a larger drawing.

I work to any size and format, I am happy to paint families, couples or groups of people, including family pets in the portrait too, and I always try to accommodate any individual's needs or budget.
